Book Review: "Luck of the Irish" by Liz Gavin

About The AuthorLIZ
When Liz Gavin was in Second Grade - just a couple of years ago, really - her teacher told her mother the little girl should start a diary because she needed an outlet for her active and vivid imagination. She was a talkative child who would disrupt the class by engaging her colleagues in endless conversations. She loved telling them the stories her grandfather used to tell her.
Apparently, the teacher wasn't a big fan of those stories, and Liz's mother bought her a diary. She happily wrote on it for a couple of months. Unable to see the appeal of writing for her own enjoyment only, she gave up on it. She missed the audience her friends provided her in class. She went back to disturbing her dear teacher's class.
Since then, she has become a hungry reader. She will read anything and everything she can get her hands on - from the classics to erotica. That's how she has become a writer of erotica and romance, as well.
As a young adult, she participated in a student exchange program and lived in New Orleans for six months. She fell in love with the city and its wonderful inhabitants. NOLA will always hold a special spot in Liz Gavin's heart. Nowadays, living in Brazil, Liz's creativity has improved many times because it's such a vibrant, gorgeous and sexy country.
Welcome to her world of hot Alpha males and naughty, independent women. Add a touch of the paranormal in the presence of some wicked souls and you'll get the picture.
Sit back, fire up your Kindle and enjoy the ride!

Liz Gavin’s second full-length novel is hard to put down just as it is hard to pinpoint its genre. She has woven an intricate web around her characters that will leave readers breathless. In the sizzling concoction, this talented new author poured heart-warming romance, heart-stopping suspense, and a dash of heart-searching paranormal. Take your pick. Regardless of the literary genre you might favor, Liz Gavin’s writing will take you to a whole different side of it.
My Review
Great Read With Strong Characters
This book has everything: strong characters, including an alpha male and a strong, independent female; Ireland (great setting); romance; murder; and suspense. I fell in love with Kiera and Declan as they fought to protect one another against a psycho. I also loved the light paranormal aspect of it.
Kiera's grandfather told her tales of his homeland, Ireland, when she was a young girl, and she scraped and saved to go there. She set off to live her dream of both Ireland and seeing her favorite group in concert in their home town.
Declan has his own relationship demons to bear as he struggles to come to terms with his developing feelings for Kiera.

Review: "The Ruins on Stone Hill" by F. P. Spirit

About the Author

F.P. Spirit has always loved fantasy. From the moment he received his very first copy of Lord of the
Rings back in high school, he was hooked. Today, somewhere between work, raising two teen boys, and trying to be a devoted husband, F. P. manages to write sword and sorcery fantasy fiction.

His novels, The Ruins on Stone Hill, The Serpent Cult and The Dark Monolith, are the first three books in the series Heroes of Ravenford. The series chronicles the adventures of a band of young heroes in the dangerous world of Thac. F.P. is currently working on the fourth book in the Heroes of Ravenford series, The Princess of Lanfor, to be released in late 2015.

To learn more you can go to his website http://fpspirit.com/ or follow him on Twitter at https://twitter.com/FP_Spiritout

About The Book

Magic is Easy or so Glolindir thought, until he came face to face with his first live monster. Casting spells was not so simple with death breathing down his neck. His story might have ended there if not for three gifted youths: Seth, the mysterious halfling with the moves of an assassin; Lloyd, the spiritblade whose fiery swords are whirlwind-fast; and Aksel, the gnome whose very touch can heal.

Yet that was just the beginning of their adventures, for dark shadows loom over the little town of Ravenford. The townsfolk quickly turn to these newcomers, who may indeed be their only hope. From the old ruined keep southwest of town to hidden caves in the western hills, through dark tunnels, secret passages, concealed rooms and magical mirrors, they must face mythical monsters, evil creatures, and dark wizards, each more perilous than the last. Can they rise to the challenge and become the Heroes that the people of Ravenford so sorely need?

My Review

Entertaining and Captivating

A band of misfits come together to become the Heroes of Stone Hill (as some call them). They go upon quest after quest for the Baron, after kicking some Orc booty and find a document for the town wizard. This little band consists of an elfin mage, a Halfling ninja, a gnome healer and a large human warrior. After their first encounter with the Orcs, they team with a couple of guys for hire (a tracker and a warrior) and even later an elfin bard.

I haven’t read a lot of Fantasy but this was an enjoyable read, and I intend to read more of Mr. Spirit's books. THE RUINS ON STONE HILL was not only captivating; it was fun and hard to put down.
